DESCRIPTION:The South End Origins Second Saturday Tour begins at 7-9 Stockbridge Street. This tour will take place on September 12 at 10:30 am. \n\n\nThis tour will focus on the 19th century South End. It will start around Stockbridge Street and then head south along Main Street to around Central Street. There is on-street parking. This event happen rain or shine! $5 for SPT and Springfield Museums members and $10 for the public. In addition\, he is the author of two books: Lost Springfield\, Massachusetts and New England Then and Now\, and he is the host of the Western Mass History podcast. Derek serves on the board of directors of the Longmeadow Historical Society\, and he served as president of the Springfield Preservation Trust. \nSecond Saturday Tours explore historic Springfield. The series is co-presented by the Springfield Preservation Trust\, Springfield Museums\, and Springfield Libraries—and is generously sponsored by the Springfield Cultural Council and Mass Cultural Council.

SUMMARY:Springfield Armory: "Voices from the Grave" Cemetery Tour
DESCRIPTION:See history come alive in this tour of Springfield Cemetery\, featuring live actors portraying Springfield’s influential past residents on October 18 at 1pm. \n\n\n\n\nLearn about important figures in Springfield history at our annual “Voices from the Grave” historic cemetery tour. This year the Trust will feature history from Springfield Armory through former residents. \nAttendees will have a unique opportunity to delve into the lives of five influential figures in Springfield’s history. The tour winds through the cemetery’s pathways and features\, former residents to visit this year\, including Robert Orr\, first Master Armorer; Elizabeth A. Cassidy Bull\, she was a member of the Adelphi Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star; among three other former Springfield residents. This year the tour will have a theme to highlight Springfield Armory former residents. \nHosted by the Springfield Preservation Trust and developed by SPT Secretary Michael Stevens\, the tour is an hour-long experience through Springfield Cemetery. It is led by docents who take visitors on a tour to graves of interesting cemetery residents\, where costumed interpreters speak about each person of intrigue. \nHour-long walking tours will depart every fifteen minutes starting at 1:00PM at Springfield Cemetery\, 110 Pine Street. Tickets are free due to the partnership with American Alliance of Museums and National Park Service. Reserve your tickets here. This event will charge for tickets again next year. This event is held rain or shine! Enter Springfield Cemetery through the Pine Street entrance. Do not use the Maple Street entrance.
