HISTORY
It is the oldest house remaining in the Memorial Square neighborhood. This post-Civil War Italianate mansion now contains four apartments.
THREAT
It is proposed for demolition as part of the parking lot at the new German Gerena School. The land is on the northwestern corner of the school site and could be excluded. The Trust advocates for this through written letters to the Mayor, State Senator Adam Gomez, and State Representative Carlos Gonzalez. The Springfield Historical Commission recently did not grant a request to lift the nine-month demolition delay ordinance. The Trust hopes the City will look for additional parking sites for the new German Gerena School.
REUSE
This building can continue to serve as an apartment building.
