174-176 Maple Street

174-176 Maple Street

HISTORY

In 1873, local architect George Potter designed a row of six High Victorian Gothic style brick row houses at the corner of Maple and Central Streets.

THREAT

These six High Victorian Gothic row houses have been in multiple ownerships and have been neglected. The City foreclosed on 174 and 176 Maple Street for back taxes and offered for sale with Community Development Block Grant assistance to help in exterior renovation.  A developer was chosen, and he acquired the other four row houses. Because of no work having occurred, the City took back 174 and 176 which recently had a fire. A new owner owns all of the row houses and plans to make apartments.

REUSE

It could be apartments for the right preservation minded developer..
