Learn about important figures in Springfield history at our annual “Voices from the Grave” historic cemetery tour. This year the Trust will feature history from Springfield Armory through former residents.
Attendees will have a unique opportunity to delve into the lives of five influential figures in Springfield’s history. The tour winds through the cemetery’s pathways and features, former residents to visit this year, including Robert Orr, first Master Armorer; Elizabeth A. Cassidy Bull, she was a member of the Adelphi Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star; among three other former Springfield residents. This year the tour will have a theme to highlight Springfield Armory former residents.
Hosted by the Springfield Preservation Trust and developed by SPT Secretary Michael Stevens, the tour is an hour-long experience through Springfield Cemetery. It is led by docents who take visitors on a tour to graves of interesting cemetery residents, where costumed interpreters speak about each person of intrigue.
Hour-long walking tours will depart every fifteen minutes starting at 1:00PM at Springfield Cemetery, 110 Pine Street. Tickets are free due to the partnership with American Alliance of Museums and National Park Service. Reserve your tickets here. This event will charge for tickets again next year. This event is held rain or shine! Enter Springfield Cemetery through the Pine Street entrance. Do not use the Maple Street entrance.
