The Preservation Trust is gearing up for the 2nd Annual “Voices from the Grave”.  This year’s event returns us to Oak Grove Cemetery on Sunday, October 19 where costumed actors will portray the lives (and deaths) of six prominent Springfield citizens that are now interred at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Last year’s event featured well known Springfield citizens including Primus Mason, Frank Wesson, and John Mcknight.  Over 150 people enjoyed the crisp autumn air and camaraderie of friends as they made their way from gravesite to gravesite.

This year the event will include Armory Superintendent Stanhope Blunt, architect B. Hammett Seabury, Harriet Seuss Geisel, and Camp Fire Girls founder Luther and Charlotte Gulick.  Tours will depart every 15 minutes from the Oak Grove Chapel beginning at 3:00 with the latest tour at 4:45. Tours are an hour long. Remember to wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes.

Tickets are $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers; they can be bought in advance at Flowers, Flowers, 758 Sumner Avenue or online below. Tickets sold on the day of the tour are sold on a first come, first filled basis.
